Tip #5: Play with Colors
A lot of people buy presets because they like how the colors look – whether they’re softer or sharper or more dramatic. To achieve that look you desire in your photos, explore the options available in Lightroom under the Color tab.
You can tweak individual color channels to make targeted color adjustments.
Here’s how:
Use the Color Panel for Color Adjustments: The Color panel provides a direct approach to color correction. You can tweak individual colors within nine color ranges and adjust the hue, saturation, and luminance accordingly. For instance, you can click on the Red slider and adjust the hue to make the red tones more orange or magenta, while also adjusting the saturation and luminance of the red channel independently.
As you make your color adjustments, look closely at the image to evaluate any changes and ensure you’re achieving the desired effect. It’s best to start with small changes to individual sliders, evaluate the result, and then make adjustments as necessary.
By making incremental adjustments, you can avoid creating an overly edited or unnatural-looking image.
Experiment with different adjustments and settings to find the perfect look for your photo. With practice, you’ll develop an eye for identifying color-related issues and won’t hesitate to adjust and correct them to quickly create photos you love!
